Speaking of which... I've recently come into possession of an oxidized metal chest, that was recovered from a wreck off the west coast of Greenland. The sunken chest is adorned with several reliefs of a creature I believe to be Cthulhu. There are leather straps that feature an array of strange tooth like artifacts that dangle from three sides and the chest bares a rusted plate with the name of the ship "The Alert" on it.
The Alert, as I'm sure you are aware, was a rather infamous and heavily armed yacht in the Pacific Ocean crewed by "a queer and evil-looking crew of Kanakas and half-castes" from Dunedin, New Zealand." How a portion of its bounty came to reside inside a wreck off the coast of Greenland is still a mystery.
In addition, once opened, inside this chest rests an idol, or fetish, of a creature I again conceive to be that of Cthulhu. It is carved from whale ivory, or perhaps even a Narwhal tooth.
After comparing it to the testimony of William Channing Webb, a professor at Princeton in the 19th century, this chest and idol are similar to others described by scholars to have come from "a singular tribe or cult of degenerate Esquimaux," whose religion consisted of "a curious form of devil-worship... with its deliberate bloodthirstiness and repulsiveness."
The fetish is in remarkable shape and is adorned with an aged leather strap and what appear to be three human teeth removed from what I am assuming to be a rival Eskimo tribe member?
My research is to date unfinished but I believe the stage correlation between "The Alert" and the Greenland Eskimo Cult suggests some sort of possible "artifact trade route" between the supporters of Cthulhu in Greenland, Africa, and New Zealand. My contacts in Africa and Greenland are searching as we speak for more evidence to support this theory. I will keep you posted.
